M I Я

A work that asks difficult questions without offering simple answers — about conflict, prejudice, identity and what peace might mean.

M I Я

Against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine and escalating global conflict, Ukrainian-born DarjaReznikova and Russian-born Sade Mamedova work across national identities to confront violence, propaganda, prejudice, and personal responsibility. Onstage, Doris Lingenau and Gleb Bondarev transform these questions into an intense physical dialogue—a charged encounter of resistance, vulnerability, and negotiation.

The title M | Я draws on the Slavic word for both “peace” and “world,” while the mirrored Cyrillic Я represents the self. The work asks: How do global conflicts enter our bodies and relationships? Where does peace begin—and where does it end?

Recognised with several national awards and recommended by the international Aerowaves Festival jury for 2026, M | Я does not present peace simply as the absence of war. Instead, it reveals peace as a difficult, fragile, and active practice—one that feels especially vital now.
